Honoring the Past,
Envisioning the Future
A Message from the CEO of
Mercy Health System of Maine
As we prepare for an exciting future
at the Fore River, I am reminded of
what brought us to this point: a strong
foundation of 90 years of service, first at the Queens Hospital
and then at our current State Street Campus. The transition
to the Fore River Campus provides us an opportunity to honor
our past and envision our future. The Fore River Campus will
strengthen the physical platform to meet the health care
needs of the 21st century, and allow us to improve the services
that will remain at our State Street Campus.
When Phase I of our project opens in September, we will be able to reallocate much-needed space and resources to the programs and services that will remain at State Street. One of these programs is our Emergency Department. Mercy’s Emergency Department handles 30,000 patient visits a year, ranging from sprained ankles to chest pain, asthma attacks to broken bones.
Regardless of the location of services, we recognize each patient as a whole person—body, mind and spirit—and we make sure we provide clinically excellent, compassionate health care for all. For a rundown of what is moving to the Fore River and what is staying at State Street, see pages 6-7 of this issue of Mercyside.
