Celebrating 20 years of excellence, McAuley Residence provides a safe environment and a comprehensive transitional housing program offering life skills, counseling, emotional support, and mentoring to women in need, with or without children. The program helps participants develop the skills necessary for self-sufficiency, and to live in a manner that improves their lives in a real and meaningful way. McAuley Residence is guided by the Sisters of Mercy philosophy of compassionate care for all, with special concern for disadvantaged women and children.
Women come from all over the state of Maine and either apply on their own, or are referred through community agencies. McAuley Residence serves a diverse group of women who have experienced one or more situations of homelessness, substance abuse, domestic violence, broken relationships, mental health issues, or incarceration. They commit to acquiring the skills to make positive, lasting life changes.
