An ultrasound examination is a non-invasive procedure that uses high frequency sound waves to generate an image of any soft tissue organ in the body. It was developed in the 1950's and has steadily improved in image quality ever since. Today's state of the art equipment is capable of producing outstanding images in clarity and detail. An added benefit to an ultrasound exam is there is no radiation involved thereby making it safe for all, including pregnant women.
Mercy Hospital offers ultrasound in the outpatient, inpatient, emergent and surgical setting. We provide a wide range of diagnostic procedures under ultrasound guidance including breast, thyroid, prostate, kidney and liver biopsies as well as amniocentesis, paracentecis and thoracentecis.
We are accredited through the American College of Radiology.
Our highly trained staff of Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers have credentials in abdomen, obstetrical, gynecological, and breast scanning.
