Mercy Hospital School of Radiologic Technology offers a two-year Certificate Program in Radiography. This is a full time program, Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm for academic instruction and with varying hours for clinical instruction/rotations. Students are required to rotate weekends as a
component of their clinical experience. Students rotate one out of every 10th weekend beginning in September of their junior year. There are 100 total weekends in this 24 month program; therefore each student rotates approximately 10 total weekends (10%) throughout the duration of our program. The purpose of rotating students on weekend assignments is to assist the student in gaining more self-confidence, to use critical thinking skills and to learn prioritization. A yearly schedule is given to all students and does not change with attrition. Holidays and a 1 pm – 9 pm shift rotation are not required, but are available for optional credit days or float choices.
Clinical Rotation
All students fulfill their clinical rotation requirements at four designated sites namely:
| Facility |
Hours of Operation |
|
Mercy Hospital 144 State Street Portland, Maine 04101 |
7:30 am – 3:30 pm
|
Mercy Yarmouth 259 Main Street Yarmouth, Maine 04096 |
8:30 am – 3:30 pm |
Mercy Westbrook 40 Park Road Westbrook, Maine 04092 |
8:30 am – 3:30 pm |
Maine Medical Center 22 Bramhall Street Portland, Maine 04103 |
8:00 am – 4 pm |
Our expectation is that all students will adhere to the varying hours of operation at each site during their clinical rotation. Students are directly supervised, until competency has been acquired. A 1:1 student to staff ratio is maintained throughout the duration of this program, during all clinical rotations.
