On Wednesday, September 10, 2008 Mercy Health System of Maine held a public grand opening of its new Fore River campus. The first patients were seen at the new hospital less than two weeks later on September 22. These events marked the culmination of a lengthy planning and construction process and the beginning of a new chapter in the history of health care in greater Portland.
