Leave a Legacy for a New Century of Quality Care
In 2018, Mercy Hospital will mark its 100th anniversary of meeting the health care needs of the greater Portland community.
Mercy's storied history began in 1918 when the Sisters of Mercy began their tradition of healing in Portland at Queen's Hospital during a massive flu epidemic.
Since then, Mercy has grown to become one of the largest health care providers in the State. It has added wings, new campuses, new primary care facilities and a range of health and human services programs to meet the "whole health" needs of the community with special attention to the poor and disadvantaged.
"Our mission and our commitment have never been stronger," state Eileen Skinner, President and CEO. "The need is all around us and we will continue to take this to heart as we reach out to embrace those who need our services, with skilled and compassionate care."
