Are you Eligible?
Women come from all over the state of Maine and either apply on their own, or are referred through community agencies. McAuley Residence serves a diverse group of women who have experienced one or more situations of homelessness, substance abuse, domestic violence, broken relationships, mental health issues, or incarceration. They commit to participate in a structured program led by a professional clinical and administrative staff in support of thier needs and goals.

In order to eligible for the McAuley Residence Program, you must:
- be a homeless woman between the ages of 21 and 62
- have a willingness to commit to 35 hours of productive activity weekly
- have the desire, ability, psychological stability, and resolve to develop and work on goals to become self-sufficient.
- have sobriety from drugs and alcohol for a minimum of six months with supports in place
- if mental health services are needed, be willing to work with a mental health provider and be capable of meeting other program requirements
- be eligible for a housing subsidy and willing to pay 30% of any monthly income for rent.
If you are a mother with children, we can accommodate one child under the age of eight per apartment.
If there has been domestic violence, consideration will be on a case by case basis.
