Measuring bone strength and mineral density can prevent early osteoporosis or fragile bone fractures. Since there are no symptoms of osteoporosis, it is important to measure bone density especially in women over age 50 or at menopause.
Mercy offers bone densitometry, a simple, painless radiologic procedure to measure your bone strength. If you think you need testing, ask your primary care physician for a referral.
