Fellowships


FELLOWSHIPS AT NEW ENGLAND FOOT & ANKLE SPECIALISTS

The goal of the fellowship is to provide extensive exposure to the complete spectrum of foot & ankle disorders. The Fellow will receive in-depth training in non-operative and operative care of traumatic, degenerative, sports, rheumatoid and diabetic foot & ankle problems. AO methods are utilized to provide rigid fixation of the foot & ankle.

  • Duration: 1 year (August 1, 2011 to July 31, 2012)
  • Application Deadline: December 31, 2009 
  • Stipend: $40,000/year, including housing ($16,800), for a total of $56,800
  • Location: Mercy Hospital/Maine Medical Center

The fellow will learn from active participation in the preoperative, intra-operative and postoperative management of patients. The fellow will participate in a schedule of lectures, grand rounds, journal clubs and research conferences. The fellow will also participate in preparation and presentation of lectures and will be responsible for a minimum of two reports/research projects of publishable quality.

The individual chosen as the 2011/2012 fellow should become familiar with guidelines for obtaining licenses, credentials and privileges in preparation for a lengthy credentialing process. For instance, fellows must be board-eligible or board-certified and must obtain a Maine medical license. See below for more information.
